To kick off my first blog, I thought I'd share with you what inspired me to become a photographer. Throughout my life I remember my mother taking thousands of photos of my brothers and I. While growing up I never understood why she just HAD to take so many. Of course my brothers complained during every photo. Wanting to be like them, I'd join in on the eye rolls and say "really mom?!". Little did I know how much I'd cherish those photos once I got older.
I never realized how many memories had slipped my mind until I looked back through those old photographs. With each picture, I'm taken back in time to that certain memory, and a wave of nostalgia rushes over me. Everyone knows the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words", right? While that may be true, I believe a picture is so much more than that. A picture can represent the best day of your life. It can bring back memories that take you back in time. A picture, to me, is priceless. I've spent countless days going through the photographs my mom took over the years and each time I find myself indulged in every picture trying to remember that particular second in time. That right there, is why I chose to pursue my career as a photographer.
For those of you who really know me, know that I take a LOT of pictures (I wonder who I get that from). For the most part, where ever I go, my camera goes too. Many people probably hate me for this, but they'll thank me someday. Some people don't realize that many of the best memories are made during life's smallest moments. I want people to look back at my photos and experience the same feelings I did. I want them to relive memories through my photographs so they can appreciate life's memorable moments even more than before.
Now that I've told you my story, I'd like to share some of my favorite photographs to look back at.
Obviously this was our prime time! I'm so lucky to have cousins who have always been my absolute best friends. (p.s. I love this second photo because of Jessica's face. Can ya spot her?)
Remember how I said I wanted to be like my brothers? Well in this case that meant riding/racing dirt bikes. I think I gave my mom a heart attack during this phase.
Best birthday present ever!!! If anyone is wondering what to get me for my birthday this year.. I'm just saying..
These are the types of pictures I cherish the most, bringing me back to the memories I shared with my Grandpa.
Ohh the classic awkward sibling bath photo! Can you tell I wasn't too happy about this picture?
